Production Notes
Sta. Rita Hills experienced an unseasonably cool growing season in 2021, pushing back vineyard development and ripening by an average of two weeks. The Pinot Noir harvest kicked off on September 8, then stalled for two weeks while grapes continued to ripen. During the 6-day window from September 22-27, we brought in small lots of Pinot Noir from five Sta. Rita Hills vineyards. Harvest continued well into October concluding with the harvest of Radian Pinot Noir on October 18. The long hang time has encouraged excellent flavor development, complexity and concentration.
Winemaker Notes
This Rosé was made using a saignée, or juice draw, taken immediately upon crushing the grape clusters into the fermenter. The brief contact with the red grape skins renders its beautiful color. The juice was fermented in stainless steel barrels, then aged on its lees for six months, adding depth and complexity to the wine without overshadowing the fresh fruit components. The wine was bottled on April 28, 2022. Only 51 cases produced
