This refreshing wine features summery aromas of white peaches and fresh-cut flowers. The palate delights with flavors of juicy strawberries, orange zest and watermelon. The finish is bright and tangy with hints of nectarines and flinty minerality. This Rosé will be the perfect paring for lighter summer fare like scallop ceviche or grilled peaches.
Vineyard Notes
Ken Brown has worked with this meticulously farmed vineyard for many years. Planted in the early 2000s, Rio Vista is located at the southeastern end of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. The slightly warmer microclimate results in luscious, ripe Pinot Noir. The dominant soils are limestone, sedimentary soils and a marine layer of sandy loam. This Rosé comes from Block 2, planted to the 115 clone.
Production Notes
The 2025 growing season was another cool one in the Sta. Rita Hills, continuing the trend we’ve seen in both 2023 and 2024. Mild conditions during bud initiation in the spring meant fewer clusters than average, with the lowest yields coming from the western side of the appellation. Warm weather during flowering and fruit set gave us healthy bunches packed with small berries promoting excellence for growers and winemakers. With no major heat spikes to rush things along, Mother Nature has allowed us to pick slowly and methodically, giving each vineyard the chance to reach just the right level of ripeness. Grapes for this wine were picked on August 29th.
Winemaker Notes
Pinot Noir clusters for this wine were whole-bunch pressed then transferred to stainless steel barrels for fermentation and aging. Malo-lactic fermentation was blocked to keep the wine as bright and lush as possible. It was bottled on February 11th, 2026.
